"Wages will earn you a living, profits will earn you a fortune.
Going to work, and trading your time for a set amount of money is a sad way to spend your life. When you add up how much time you spend every year working, you're almost forced to ask if it was really worth it, especially when you take in to account commuting time, the stress involved, and all the costs related to having a job. Not to mention how little fun it is!
The conclusion most people come to is that they just need to stick it out until retirement or until they win the lottery, then they'll kiss their job goodbye and live by the ocean with butlers and maids and fast cars and big screen TVs. The problem with this is obviously that retirement is so far off, and the lottery is so farfetched.
So many people cling to this dream as if it's simply a matter of time, yet time is precisely what you don't have enough of.
The main obstacle is the Income Trap. If you are stuck trading your time for money, you will always be caught in the Income Trap.
Your time is a finite resource, and you can only give so much of it away. If your only method of earning money is to sell your time, you're going to find yourself in trouble one day when either your time isn't worth anything, nobody will pay you for it, or you don't have much time left...
Just look at the massive amount of unemployment that has occurred in the last few years around the world due to the recessions many countries have experienced. Millions and millions of people who only got paid if they turned up for work found themselves out of jobs and in some very tough situations, unable to pay their bills and mortgages, and even unable to feed their families.
Compare this situation with that of someone who earns profits instead of wages...
Their income isn't linked to any set amount of time they put in, and their isn't a limit on how much they can earn each day. No boss tells them how much they are worth, and instead they are able to take a step back from the process and let their money earn itself.
Read that last line again. When you are earning profits instead of wages you are able to take a step back from the whole process and let your money earn itself!
Your profits get paid into your bank account regardless of how many hours you worked that week. You don't need to wait for retirement, you don't need to hope for a lottery win, and you don't need to worry about your boss no longer needing your services.
If you want to escape the Income Trap and start freeing up your time, you need to take action today. You could start a business from home, start an internet-based business, create and sell products of some kind, or even partner with someone else and provide their financing.
